Car was totally dead! Car key wasn’t working; doors couldn’t be locked. Owner even didn’t apologise after showing up 3 hours later :(
Some of this is blatant lies. The booking started at 7am. I have checked my phone records. The borrower texted first at 6:58am, but I was asleep. The borrower then called at 8:24am, which woke me up (that is not her fault, some of us work shifts), after which I attended to the car immediately and started it using a jump start pack. If she had instead called me at 7am rather than texting, I would have done the same and started the car much sooner and the car would have been good to go. The statement "showing up 3 hours later" strongly implies that I attended at 10am and that I did not respond with any sense of urgency once I knew about the issue, which is false. I understand the borrower's frustration with not having a car in a state to drive away immediately, but I could do nothing without being aware of the issue at the time. I strongly encourage the borrower to follow up a text message with a call if there is no response within 5 minutes. If I did not apologise at the time, it was because I was half asleep and focused on resolving the issue urgently. I am sorry that the car would not start, but the borrower essentially wasted close to an hour and a half of her own time by not calling sooner.
