friendly owner - easy pick up & drop off. car drives well

Car was clean and nicely presented. We booked the evening beforehand and the booking was not seen by the owner prior to our arrival at 9:15. The vehicle was therefore parked behind a gate and required us to contact the owner direct in order to pick the vehicle up. In the event the vehicle was needed at shorter notice I think the owner might leave in his gated front yard so one to consider. The return process was interesting given previous very positive experiences. Again an in person interaction in the absence of a lock box. There was a form that the owner had printed - I’m unsure if this is from car next door or not given the service is intended to be app based and contactless. If not a requirement then this form should not exist. The form required sign off from customers on kilometres driven rather than direct input via the app. The owner either does not understand the terms and conditions (indicated he “had a different set” to the customers renting) or feigns ignorance as he wanted me to fill the car up and return full but said he would not reimburse for fuel. Given the premise is pay per kilometre, which effectively pays for fuel, this was an odd request and I do wonder if this is purely not understanding the process or is a gotcha for other customers if they do not raise this upon return. The owner should consider raising the daily price to account for this is he feels he is not compensated enough.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I just joined car next door and am getting used to the requirements. Will definitely be ok next time. I also prefer being present at the handing over and return of the car so that if there are any issues, it can be discussed and agreed for appropriate actions. Thank you. Cheers.
