gear box is not working properly!
I have just test driven the vehicle. The transmission changes beautifully. It would seem you were probably driving around in "S" sequencial shift mode and not "D" Drive so the car was holding the gear waiting for you to manually change it. When you didn't it would change so as not to completly destroy itself.
