Unfortunately I had a terrible experience with this rental. Firstly, the car was NOT left at the location provided by CarNextDoor. After an agonising search of Top Ryde shopping centre’s carpark with kids in tow and also with the owner Zi’s phone ringing out (I also texted him), I got hold of CND customer service chap Eric after a 20min wait and astonishingly he gave me yet ANOTHER WRONG ADDRESS of the location of the car and combatively trying to get me to accept a $10 credit for my “inconvenience”. After a wild goose chase 1h20m later in searing heat owner Zi finally texted me back finally giving me the correct location of the car. Granted, Zi was apologetic enough but he squarely pointed the finger at CND. Secondly, the car I picked up was filthy. It was filthy inside and outside obviously the previous renter did not play by the rule book and I had had to painstakingly vacuum and wipe down the interior of the vehicle. The vehicle was returned to the location identified by CND’s system at the end of the rental with a little more than 1/4 tank of fuel. After this comedy of errors and surreal experience I am still awaiting the result of an investigation that Eric had promised me CND would undertaken. I wonder I would ever hear from CND let alone any form of recognition of this bizarre and highly disappointing encounter. Lesson learnt is this: it is not a good idea to retrieve a car in a public car park; CND needs to look at their software and data management system as it is not giving out correct vehicle locations.
